Use carrier lookup to enrich phone records with supported network information while keeping country-specific coverage and mapping limitations visible to the customer.
The current provider documentation supports single carrier/line-type lookup and bulk carrier workflows with country-specific task mappings. The public product should therefore show only fields and countries that have been tested and approved.
Carrier or network name where returned.
Line type where returned by the configured lookup.
Country and regional fields where the verified mapping supplies them.
Checked-at time and normalized status.
Carrier lookup is not a universal one-size-fits-all endpoint. Bulk task mappings can vary by country, so the application should publish coverage from the internal service registry instead of hard-coding “global coverage”.
Country/service mapping must be verified before public enablement.
Unsupported fields remain absent rather than guessed.
Coverage changes should be versioned and reflected on the coverage page.
Carrier data is most valuable when it changes routing, segmentation, or QA decisions.
Identify the available network/line-type data before choosing a downstream communication workflow.
Add normalized network metadata to existing phone records where coverage supports it.
Compare old carrier fields with fresh lookup results before importing a dataset.
Create operational segments using returned line-type or country information without treating it as identity proof.
The UI should show “Unavailable” or “Not supported” when a field is not returned. It should not infer carrier, city, ownership, or reachability from unrelated data.
Coverage varies. Single and bulk workflows have different mappings, and bulk carrier task types can be country-specific. Publish only tested coverage.
No. Carrier and line type are network metadata, not identity verification.
Yes where a verified bulk mapping is enabled for the target coverage.
Treat them as unavailable, not as a negative result. The normalized schema should preserve that distinction.
